Uninvited Opinion

Criticism is always to be expected and after a while although saying it becomes easier to deal with is an overstatement the people who are more likely to offer this type of opinion are obvious.

You recognise why they chose to state what they do, let them express it and then leave. It gives insight into a state of mind that is useless and potentially  detrimental to you should you decide to associate with it.

But life is full of surprises and only yesterday I received  another one.

I had met with a fellow entrepreneur about possibly helping them with their project using skills that I had.

This had nothing to do with music but I liked their product and I knew it was something I could do.

We met to discuss this and eventually the conversation was about my music.

This is where things became very strange.

Suddenly I was on the receiving end of a sarcastic, condescending smack down and found myself defending my project.

We could not have been farther removed from the purpose of our meeting.

It ended with them walking away and patting me on the shoulder!!

Now I appreciate that there are always going to be people opposed to what I do or who think my methods are ridiculous but what I did not expect was another ideas person to react like that.

Naively I expected them to ask me to elaborate on how I thought my plans would unfold not for them to assume there was only one route to market.

Disappointment.

Another day, another lesson.

There are people with ideas aplenty but those with the willingness to innovate are rarer.

Persons with no interest in, knowledge of or who will never benefit from your work will take it upon themselves to smash into your ideas.

How do I feel about this?

Confused.

Luckily I was on the way to meet a friend and celebrate his birthday so we had a good laugh about it.

In hindsight maybe they thought they were helping me. Maybe they were having a bad day.

Either way, moving on....

Love Yourself!
